Specialty Sports Venture donates funds to SCRG once again

SSV check, Shari

Specialty Sports Venture, which owns local stores Breckenridge Sports, Keystone Sports and Mountain Sports Outlet, has been a great supporter of the Summit County Rescue Group for many years. The company's annual Adopt-A-Cause program raises money for various non-profits by asking customers to donate, and then matching those donations at 50% during the period between Thanksgiving and New Year's. In Summit County, SSV stores have been donating this money to us in recent years.

This week we received a check for a whopping total of $26,166.64

"Despite the recession and caution in holiday spending this year, people were very generous in opening up their wallets and purses to help us support all these great causes," said Ken Gart, president of Specialty Sports and head cheerleader for the program. "This is one of our favorite community efforts of the year and there is a friendly rivalry between regions to help raise funds for these causes that they believe in but even I was amazed to see that donations were up 48 percent from last year - that was astonishing and very gratifying."

The Summit County Rescue Group's Finance Director, Charles Pitman, commented, "It takes a tremendous financial commitment for us to maintain our standing as one of the top rescue teams in the state. We have a constant need to maintain and replace equipment and to provide high quality field training to our members. SSV has been a great help to us in meeting these needs over the years."

Rescue Group Leader Tim Schlough added, "We'd like to extend our deepest thanks to the employees and customers of the Summit County SSV stores for their efforts in supporting our group."
